Collection includes departmental reports, nursing program curriculum 1971-1990;  ceremony event pins, programs, and artifacts, photographs, news articles, newsclippings, professional student organizations, and Nursing Faculty listing 1971-72 to 1989-90. Covering the span of the academic program from the inception of the program to present day.

School of Nursing Timeline 1969: Mrs. Irene Ann Sprague heads the two-year nursing program offering an Associate of Arts degree in Nursing and upon successful completion of the Board of Examiners of Nurses for Georgia, as Clayton Junior College opens. 1971: Program celebrates first nursing graduating class and Mrs. Doris Bates becomes the Director of Nursing and Dental Hygiene. The program now enrolls 100 students. 1972-1972:  First year of the Pre-nursing two-year college transfer programs. 1975: The Division of Health Sciences is dissolved and the Department of Nursing is established within the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. 1976: Mary deChesnay joins the faculty in the summer quarter as Head of the Department of Nursing. 1979:  Joy Lunn Douglas joins the faculty as Head of the Department of Nursing. 1980: Barbara Heard McCant is named Head of the Department of Nursing after serving 4 years as a faculty member. 1981: The Practical nursing program begins under the Division of Vocational-Technical Education, which upon successful completion of the Georgia Board of Nursing exam, results in an LPN. 1982: The Nursing Assistant Program celebrates its first graduating class. The program is offered through Division of Vocational-Technical Education. 1985: Board of Regents approves proposal for Clayton Junior College to become a four-year institution and authorizes two Bachelor degree programs, a B.B.A. and B.S.N., in the School of Health. 1987:  Georgia Board of Nursing approves Clayton State College to offer upper division nursing courses. Dr. Carole Schoffstall comes to CSC as Head of the Department of Baccalaureate Nursing; Robert E. Puddy is the Dean of the School of Health Sciences. 1990: 19 students graduate with the College's first Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees. 1990: Practical Nursing Certificate is discontinued. 1991: BSN program accredited by National League of Nursing 1992: Linda Samson serves as the Acting Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Head of the Department of Baccalaureate Degree Nursing. 1997: Associate Degree Nursing Program ends. 1998: School changes from quarter system to semester system. 1998-1999: Elaine E. Ridgeway named Head of the Department of Associate Degree Nursing. 2000:  Ludia E. McAllister is named Associate Dean of the School of Health Sciences. 2004: Judith A. Plawecki serves as Dean; with Deborah J. Clark, Associate Dean of the School of Health Sciences. 2005: Lisa Eichelberger is named Dean of the School of Health Sciences. 2006: University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents approves Master of Science in Nursing for Clayton State. 2007: Clayton State School of Nursing moves to the Harry S. Downs Center building. SACS approves the Master of Science in Nursing and the Master of Health Administration degree programs at Clayton State, effective for the fall 2007 semester. 2008: Spring: Dr. Susan Sanner is named Director of the Master of Science in Nursing. Fall: Dr. Katherine Willock becomes new Director, Master of Science in Nursing program. 2009: Spring: The Board of Regents approves Clayton State's proposal to offer the RN-MSN program, providing a new opportunity for undergraduates who qualify for the BS in Nursing for Registered Nurses to fast-track in the MSN. This allows students to earn both a BSN and MSN at the same time. Fall: School of Nursing is renamed the College of Health. Dr. Lisa Wright Eichelbergeris named Dean; Sue Elleb Odom is now Director of the School of Nursing. 2010: The College of Health's School of Nursing helps to create an ethnically diverse environment within the healthcare field through four Nursing Workforce Diversity program Grants, with the top reward amount set at $1,089,000 in  September. 2011: Dean Lisa Wright Eichelberger spoke at the Georgia Nursing summit addressing the future of the nursing profession in response to the 2010 report "The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health" from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Institute of Medicine. 2013: A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Clayton State and South Korea's Daejeon Health Sciences University was signed to facilitate an inter-institutional cooperation curriculum and academic healthcare collaborations between the two schools. 2014: 15 nursing students and one faculty member from the Daejeon Health Sciences University studied for four weeks at Clayton State during July. 2018: Nursing and Dental Hygiene students teamed up for a unique co-educational experience to understand each others profession. This served as the inaugural Interprofessional Education (IPE) program session. This experience allows students from two or more different healthcare professions learn with, from, and about each other at different stages of their professional pre-licensure education.
