In 1994 a Time Capsule Committee was created to document and preserve the first twenty-five years of Clayton Junior College and Clayton State College's history to be opened on the institutions Fiftieth Anniversary in 2019. During the Clayton State University's 50th Celebration Event, the Time Capsule was reopened and items within the capsule were displayed and then placed in the University Archives for a year for public viewing.

During the 2019-2020 academic year a new 2020 Time Capsule Committee to collect and perserve materials from the 25 year period of Clayton State's History after 1994. The second committee faculty and staff members included Feechi Hall (Chair), Ashley Woodruff, Norm Grizzell, and Sonya Gaither. This new capsule contains materials from the first fifty years of the institution, with the planned opening of the new Time Capsule scheduled for the institutions Seventy-fifth Anniversary in 2044.
