Biographical or Historical Information

The first Student Handbook publications was designed to provide basic information about to the student body of Clayton Junior College. The booklets were designed to answer general questions about the institution. Key areas of coverage include the programs of study, schedule and registration, fees and refunds, financial aid, health services, beteran's assistance, identification cards, official communications, vehicle registration, pakring, special services, academic information, administrative offices, facilities and student life. By the time the second booklet was published several pages of academic and personal conduct were added to the publication The second booklet also includes a supplemental letter from President Harry S. Down on the illegal use, possession or distribtuion of narcotics and/or other dangerous drugs. By the third year the booklet was mostly composed of student rights, disciplinary action and the formation of student government. The booklet soon came to be published by the Dean of Students in order to faclitate students' understanding of their rights and responsibilites' at CJC. The handbooks also give the organizational instruction of the college.
