Biographical or Historical Information

The club was established on May 1st, 1962 by a group of young women who sought to make a different within their community. The Group was first known as the Morrow Junior Woman’s Club, and the meetings took place in local coffee shops or at a club members’ home.  The current base for the group’s meetings and gathering is the First Baptist Church of Morrow.  Key areas of service for the club include the Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Affairs and Public Issues programs, which are all centered in helping those in need. Within the Morrow Civic Women’s Club efforts in the Education field of service, the group developed a scholarship program giving women 25 years and older $1000.00 to assist in contiuning their academic studies at Clayton State University.  The scholarship was named The Andrea Kay Lane Scholarship, in memory of the former club president.  The MCWC hold many fundraisers and activities to support their service efforts.  The most notable fund raiser for the group has been the Fashion Show which draws many to participate within the local community.
