Biographical / Historical
Dr. Brad Rice was the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of History who retired from the University in 2003. Rice's Clayton State service included serving on the Faculty Council, Dean's Advisory Board, Dr. Rice was also the editor of Atlanta History magazine, published by the Atlanta History Center, and the former president of the Georgia Assoication of Historians. He also co-wrote the book "Georgia,the Empire State of the South" with Harvey Jackson. Brad Rice was awarded the Hugh McCall Award in 2011 at the annual meeitng of the Georgia Association of Historians. Dr. Rice was born in Edmond, Oklahoma. Married and had two children and six grandchildren and resided in Madison, Ga.
