In the letters to his wife, they discuss many topics such as their two children, Hettie Carroll and Sammy, the couple's finances, health issues, fear, trust, the home front, army base experiences, along with some miscommunication issues. The couple used the terms “hubby” and “wifey” to refer to one another. Through the letters, family and friends continued to support and uplift Harold as he moved from Virginia, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, and finally Texas. Collection materials are written in English.
