Harold C. Bunner Letters
Scope and Contents
This collection includes letters that Harold wrote to and received from his family and friends while in the Army during WWII. Although there are only 6 letters that he actually wrote, he received approximately 38 letters, with 26 of them being from his wife, Ercell. In the letters with his wife, they discuss many topics such as their two children, Hettie Carroll and Sammy, the couple's finances, health issues, fear, trust, the home front, army base experiences, along with some issues with miscommunication. The couple used the terms “hubby” and “wifey” to refer to one another. Through the letters, family and friends continued to support and uplift Harold as he moves from Virginia, Pennsylvania, Mississippi and finally Texas. Collection materials are written in English.
